August 21, 1964: Alleged threats against the life of Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy were reported by Paul Rust, a news commentator for Radio Station WIP in Philadelphia.

Francis PheLAN, arrested on July 25, 1964, for the double execution murder of Jack Lopinson and Joe Malito at Dante's Restaurant, admitted to the killings and maintained that Jack Lopinson had given him a large sum of money to kill the aforementioned individuals.

PheLAN also stated that he discarded the weapons used in these killings in the Delaware River, which were later located by police through ballistic examinations.

James Patrick Walsh, an attorney representing PheLAN, denied that his client had made statements about contemplating killing Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.

Walsh refused to allow FBI agents to interview PheLAN regarding this allegation, citing his client's mental incompetence to withstand the interview.

The Philadelphia office of the FBI took no further action in this matter and answered press inquiries with a "no comment."

August 21, 1964: A teletype was sent to the Director of the FBI from the SAC in Philadelphia, reporting on alleged threats against the life of Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy.

A letterhead memorandum regarding these threats was enclosed for dissemination by the Bureau.
