Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was on trial for the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. The prosecution called numerous witnesses to testify against Sirhan, including George Plimpton, Paul Schrade, and Ira Goldstein, who were all injured during the shooting.

The prosecution also presented evidence that Sirhan had purchased a .22-caliber revolver used in the assassination and had been seen hanging around press headquarters for the Kennedy campaign before the shooting. Police Officer Travis White testified that a pupil-reaction test of Sirhan's eyes indicated he was not intoxicated at the time of his arrest.

Sergeant Riley W. Maxwell and Officer James Claborne testified to discovering Sirhan's fingerprints on his car parked three blocks from the hotel, as well as on a sales slip for ammunition purchased at a Pasadena gun shop.
