Crispin Curiel Gonzalez, a 16-year-old individual, has been under the supervision of the Juvenile Court since October 1967. He first came to the attention of the probation authorities following his arrest in the vicinity of Zonal and Mission Road in Los Angeles on October 24, 1967.

Gonzalez was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department for violation of Section 601 of the Welfare and Institution Code (WIC) at that time. Upon questioning by investigators, Gonzalez first told them he was from Bolivia, South America, having departed from there about three weeks prior to the date of his arrest.

He later stated that he was from Colima, Mexico. He explained that he had stolen 800 pesos from them to come to Los Angeles. Gonzalez was declared a ward of the Juvenile Court and was subsequently furnished residence at Boys Oasis, 4089 Harper Lake, Mr. Winandy, Boys Oasis is a privately operated residence authorized by the Juvenile Court to accept juveniles for residence and Los Angeles County pays for their expenses.

Gonzales ran away from Oasis on January 1, 1968, and was picked up by the police department as a run-away juvenile. He was returned to the custody of the Los Angeles County Probation Department and remained in Juvenile Hall until March 22, 1968, when he was then furnished residence in the Manhattan Project Residence (MPR), 600 South Van Ness Avenue, in Los Angeles, California.

According to Mr. Winandy, MPR is a residence approved by the Probation Department operated by the Salvation Army under the supervision of Mr. Edward Boyle of the Family Service Section of the Salvation Army.

On March 29, 1968, Gonzalez surrendered himself to the custody of juvenile authorities. He was subsequently returned to MPR for residence and on May 21, 1969, again ran away, and a warrant was issued from the juvenile authorities charging him with being a run-away juvenile.

On June 17, 1968, Mr. Winandy received a collect call from Gonzalez stating that he had outstanding warrants in Los Angeles and Texas. Gonzalez advised Windandy that he was involved in international narcotics smuggling between El Paso, Texas, and Mexico.

During the period of time Gonzalez was a resident at MPR, he attempted on two occasions in May 1968 to commit suicide by cutting his wrists. On one occasion, he was admitted to the Los Angeles County General Hospital for medical treatment.

According to Mr. Winandy, observation of this individual while under the supervision of the Juvenile Court indicates that although he is 16 years of age, he acts like a 13-year-old and is considerably immature for his chronological age.

Gonzalez has a father, Crispin Curiel Zamora, who resides at 353 General Nunes, Colima, Mexico. During the period of time Gonzalez was a ward of the juvenile authorities in Ephrata, Washington, he was born November 10, 1951.

On February 11, 1967, Mr. Guadalupe Urban Camacho, a farmer, advised him and his family are friends of Mr. Crispin Curiel, and advised him to contact his friends of Mrs. Reside residing at General Nunes Number 353, Colima Col., Mexico.

Gonzalez accompanied his mother to Los Angeles on January 25, 1967, and was picked up by juvenile authorities because he was a minor without any identification or money.

Grant Cooper, a Los Angeles attorney, served as an additional defense counsel for Sirhan Bishara. Cooper was involved with the National Council on Crime and Delinquency and had represented numerous individuals in criminal cases. He was also associated with Mayor Fletcher Bowron's staff and had a close relationship with Mrs. Phyllis Norton Cooper, his wife.

Sirhan Bishara, the accused assassin of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, appeared before Superior Court Judge Richard B. Schauer in Los Angeles County Jail to enter a plea to the indictment pertaining to the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy and the wounding of five other individuals.
