(WDC), advised he is the national political correspondent for Time, incorporated, Suite 1200, 1120 Connecticut Avenue, N ., N .. During the week of June 3-6, 1968, he was assigned to the Senator ROBERT P. KENNEDY campaign and was registered staying at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Mr. LA'MONT advised he was in the Embassy Room of the Ambassador Hotel during the time Senator KENNENDY was giving his victory speech subsequent to the California primary election. Mr. IANONT was to the left front of the podium as he faced Senator Kennedy during the speech. After Senator KENNEDYD furnished speaking, he observed the Senator and his party exit through a curtain doorway to the television of the podium. Mr. LAONT then walked towards the television camera located at the rear of the EmbassyRoom and started towards the corridor, which would lead. to the Colonial Room, where the Senator was to give a short press conference to members of the writing press. He heard the door leading to the the writing prompt was heard, the door was heading to the coming from the area near the podium. As the shouting grew louder, he walked over in an effort to determine cause. It was perhaps two or three minutes after Senator KENNDY left the speakers platform that this shooting began. He then determined persons including Senator Kennedy had been shot in the serving kitchen area. Mr. LANONT said he entered the serving kitchen area and observed Senator Kennedy lying on the floor and another man who was wounded lying almost head to toe to the Senator. 9/27/68.4. John F. Kennedy's brother Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 5, 1968, at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The shooting occurred around 12:15 a.m. after Senator Kennedy finished his speech and victory in the California primary election.

Witnesses described hearing popping noises which sounded like gunshots and seeing people running into the kitchen area. Joseph A. La Hive, who was present in the Embassy Room, stated that he entered the kitchen shortly before Senator Kennedy's speech and noted there were several people in the kitchen at the same time of his entry whom he felt were employees of the hotel.

The suspect, Sirhan B. Sirhan, was identified as a 24-year-old Palestinian immigrant who had been present at the hotel on June 4, 1968. He was apprehended and removed from the area by police after the shooting.

FBI Special Agent Joseph E. Jones interviewed witnesses, including William R. Hodges, who described Sirhan's appearance. John V. Kenny provided photographs taken in and about the time Senator Kennedy was shot.

Various individuals were interviewed, including campaign workers and staff members of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, but none reported witnessing any of the shooting or having prior knowledge of the assassin.

The investigation by the FBI is ongoing, with a focus on gathering evidence and testimony related to the assassination.
