On June 2, 1968, William Blume observed a man in the lobby of the Ambassador Hotel, later identified as Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, who was an alleged assistant to Senator Robert P. Kennedy. This encounter occurred on the same day that Blume and his friend David Berry Vogel attended a reception for Senator Robert F. Kennedy at the Palm Terrace.

On June 5, 1968, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan assassinated Robert F. Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The LAPD investigated Blume's observations, and the FBI investigated Sirhan Bishara Sirhan's activities and connections to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination.

Blume informed David Berry Vogel about his observations on June 2, and suggested notifying the police. Dona Herrick, a witness who worked at the Lock Stock 'N Barrel gun shop, provided descriptions of three men who purchased ammunition, including Sirhan Bishara Sirhan.

Larry Kenneth Arnot, another witness, reported that three men entered the gun shop on June 1, 1968, and purchased Mini Mags. David Berry Vogel corroborated Blume's account of their encounter with Sirhan Bishara Sirhan in the lobby of the Ambassador Hotel.

The LAPD and FBI investigated these events as part of their investigation into Robert F. Kennedy's assassination.
