John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Sirhan Sirhan, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Ambassador Hotel, June 4-5, 1968

Sirhan Sirhan was scheduled to enter a plea before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Schoer on June 28, but the hearing was delayed. The LAPD maintained liaison with the FBI regarding ballistics reports related to the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy.

Lois V. Palmer, manager of Nutri-Ville Health Food Store, knew Sirhan as "Sol" and recalled asking him if he went to college, to which he replied that he didn't but read a lot.

William B. Herford, a messenger for Rocket Messenger Service, was at the Ambassador Hotel on the night of the assassination and took photos to the airport for Sylvia Wright, "Life" magazine photographer. He heard shots and saw the assassin being held down by several people.

Barbara Rubin, wife of Lon Bruce Rubin, watched election returns in Alan Cranston's headquarters at the Ambassador Hotel on June 4-5. She went to the kitchen area behind Paul Schrade, another victim of shooting, and heard three shots but didn't see who was shooting.

The coroner's report and photographs in connection with the assassination had been completed, pending final review by Dr. Thomas Noguchi, chief medical examiner.

Sirhan will appear for plea in chapel of New County Jail as security measures not affected in Hall of Justice for court appearance. Extensive precautions have been taken and more are being prepared for future proceedings to be conducted at Hall of Justice.

A special room on the 13th floor of the Hall of Justice is being refurbished for use in all action not requiring full courtroom facilities.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard B. Schauer was convened in the chapel of Los Angeles County Jail by agreement between the defense and the District Attorney's Office for security reasons.

Russell E. Parsons, representing Sirhan, advised the court that he was not ready to make a plea and requested a continuance of three weeks in this connection.

Sirhan waived his right in open court to trial within sixty days of his indictment as required by law. The judge then set a new hearing date for July 19 next.

Parsons requested the court to appoint a new psychiatrist to examine Sirhan, inasmuch as one of the previously appointed court psychiatrists had declined. Parsons requested that the court appoint Dr. George Abe, a psychiatrist connected with the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California.

The court appointed Dr. Abe and was then adjourned until July 19 next.

Los Angeles County advised that they believe the father of Sirhan may be en route to this Pasadena Police Department in order to afford protection for the family of Sirhan.
