President Line Cleveland_ for a trip' to Japan: Neither
of them were aware that ROBERT F_ KENNEDY had: been shot until
they arrived in San Francisco and haa a. hard time obtaining
a paper
They haye absolutely no information 'concerning
the 8hoot-ng of KENNEDY ; they are in po8ses81on of no in-
formation 'concerning a possible conspiracy;they do not know

Charlotte went to the hotel with her roomate, Lynda_Cauburd; (interview made)
and a frierd Leelie_Bronstein (no interview, 1706 Brockton; WLA 43 PH#677-8433)
She arrived at the hotel ot approximately 8 : 15PM and went directly to the
Embassy Room She did not have a pass but was able to walk past the guard.
Once inside she did nox leave the room She spent the 3 hours before Xennedy
spoke sitting on the right edge of the stage_ After Kennedy she linked
arms with other Kenredy gicls
on the right side of the stage in order to form a
pathway for hin Kennedy then went down the left side of the stage A short
time later she heard a lot of noise but she thought it was trays and dishes beinc
dropped Someone then cane running out stating that Kennedy had been shot
Charlotte aoes not recali seeing Sirhan Or any Ioman wearing a
polka-dot dress .

Mr DOWD stated he flew from Boston, Massa-
chusetts and: arrived in Los Angeles

and the following met with TONY AKERS , the former
Ambassador to New Zealand, who was one of the men in
charge of field operations in the Los Angeles area: of
Southern Californi uring the campaign of Senator
KENNEDY He also mert with STEVE SMITH

9 through June and 5, 1968, DOWD worked with Mr AKERS
and Mr SMITH in organizing the Senator S campaign_
According to DOWD , everything ran smoothly_ He stated
he could recall one incident which occurred in the: hotel
parking lot, which indicated to him the atmosphere of
hate for Senator KENNEDY and the KENNEDY campaign _
He stated that each: morning the campaign posters _
which were on the cars being utilized the: campaign
people, were found to be ripped off Of the cars and
each day they needed to be replaced, As stated above,
Mr DOWD advised there `appeared to be an atnosphere
of hate around the hotel parking lot; however he could
not give a specific description of
'it and couid
not
identify any individual responsible for the tearing
off of the posters _ He stated that the incidents may
not mean anything but it appeared rather strange to
him that acts such as these should occur So close to
the Senator and campaign headquarters _
On Sunday night, June 2, 1968 , while in the
Coconut Grove Mr DOWD noticed an individual in back
of the stage whonno one recognized and who refused
to move from the area when requested to do So by KAY
HACKET , who was one of POLLY FITZGERALD ' 8 girls on the

asked this individual to move and when he would not
leave the area , she asked GENE DELLEA , another of the
campaign workers for assistance Mr DELLEA

Mr DOWD and tola him of the incident DOWD stated
that he advised Mr DELLEA not to' fool around with the
'individual but to call a

to the opposite side of tne stage and found: that this
individual was gone 'DOWD s.tated he saw the same: indiv-
idual again- a few minutes later and that this time he
was, talking to two nuns
On Tues evening, June' 4, 1968 DOWD stated
he saw this same men again roaming around the Embassy
Room He last saw thig_ individual around io:00 p.m.

He did not notice 1f this individual
had a pass or identification which would allow him
to enter the Embassy Room_ DOWD stated. there was much
confusion_

it was very difficult to attempt to keep' any one person
from the Embassy Room DOWD advised he.had no reason
to suspect this individual other than the fact that he

He advised: that at the . time of the agga88ination
of Senator ROBERT KENNEDY he was with his wife in Room 24B
at the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles California He stated
that because of this he had no opportunity to 'observe any-
thing that happened either directly, during, or after the
assassination
He said that the ' only Item of interest that he
could recall was. that on the evening of June 2 , 1968 a
Sunday evening, a reception was held for Senator KENNEDY
in the Coconut Grove Club He said that many stars of
the stage and 8creen and other celebrities were pregent
and were ~
entertaining_ He sa1d that he and a GENE: DILIEA
of Pittsfield, Massachusetts and a DONAID DOWD of
Boston, Massachusetts noted that a stocky man about
6 feet 2 Inches 250 pounds dark hair_

NORMAN JACQUES _ Rhode Island State Senator
advised that he is presently residing at the; Junction
of' Great Road and Wilbur Road: in Lincoln, Rhode Island
He stated that he unsuccessful ran for a congressional
seat during the past primary election in the State of
Rhode Island . He stated that on June 4 and 5, 1968 , he
was, in the" Embassy. Ballroom of the Ambagsador Hotel in
Los Angeles California Mr JACQUES stated that he was
not altogether sure on the exact date of the shooting of
Senator ROBERT KENNEDY but knew that it was on a Tuesday
night_ He stated that he was in the Embassy Ballroom with
al1 of the other workers of the . Kennedy contingent awaiting
the arrival of ROBERT KENNEDY where he was: scheduled to: give
a Short address on his successful results of the California
primary election: He stated that he was close to the stage
located in. the : Embassy Ballroom and was located on the
righthand 8ide of: the stage platform which is the , oppogite
way from which Senator KENNEDY departed and was subsequently
shot
JACQUES' observed the diagram which appeared in
the Los' Angeles Times on"-June 6 , and pointed to
the stage area of the "diagram and indicated that he was
located On the lefthand side of the stage from the audience
which would be the righthand side of the speaker' 8 . podium
He stated that he was located ,at this position and that
he observed Senator KENNEDY after he addressed his campaign
workers in the Embasey: Ballroom start off the stage to
the Senator 8 rlght and then: apparently the Seator decided
against going off Into' the crowa and shaking hands and
turned and departed leaving the 'stage from his lefthand
gide and then on into the- area that contained the kitchen-
and" whe re he was then shot
Mr
JACQUES stated that he did not obgerve
anything of an unusual nature, with re_ gards to the
individual' 8 beated in and around the Embassy Ballroom
He stated that the room was quite Jubilant and that people
were singing and cheering on Senator KENNEDY prior to his
arrival on the etage and as he departed He stated that

he did not observe any individual which he could consider
suspicious in the Embassy Ballroom_ He noted that the
security forces in the hotel were quite lax inasmuch as
almost anyone could gain entry into the Embassy Balroom
Mr JACQUES_ stated that just prior to Senator
KENNEDY 1 8' entrance onto the stage he looked behind the
curtain which was located immediately to the rear of
the stage and obgerved two individuals' there One he
described as a Negro in his twenties who was dressed in
an institutional type of jacket with a white male dressed
in a similar type of attire He stated that he surmised
that both of these individuals were part of the hotel staff
and were working there in some type of capacity
Mr JACQUES stated that he did meet someone
from Rhode Island who had a camera and was wa lking around
the area taking photographs of the: various members of
the KENNEDY C ontingent and he stated that this individual
followed Senator KENNEDY a8 he departed from the stage
onto the area where he was later shot He stated that he
could not recall the individual' 8 name but stated that
he was some type of reporter connected with the radio
station WEAN
Mr JACQUES stated that he could not recall
specifically who, he' was with in the hall at the time
but noted that he was associating himself with the Young
Professionals for KENNEDY , which made up a large portion
of the group at the victory party at the Embassy Ballroom
at that time He stated that he was with a schoolteacher
from California and he spent al1 of his time with her
but could not recall her name
