Everett E. Elliott, a white male, 35-40 years old, made threatening phone calls to the White House on April 8, 1968, stating he would kill President Lyndon Baines Johnson, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Special Agent Richard Jones if they attended Martin Luther King's funeral.

Elliott claimed to have a 30-caliber machine gun and a double-barreled shotgun, and stated he would kill any agent who came to his door. He also threatened to kill Jones, saying "I'll get you, you S.O.B."

Elliott was arrested on April 10, 1968, at 8:00 AM by Special Agent R.J. Hankinson of the U.S. Secret Service and charged with violating Title 18, Section 875C, U.S. Code.

The investigation was handled by the U.S. Secret Service, with no further investigation remaining at the FBI's Washington Field Office (WFO).

Elliott's travels were restricted to the Western District of Virginia and the Middle District of North Carolina, and he was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
