possession photocraphs of an unidentified woman sho had used
offensive languare in confronting Senator KENNEDY at the Tomb
of the Unknorm Soldier, Washington, D C on 4/14/68 CAPOTE
explained that Senator KENNEDY had appeared as a Pulest at the
Tonb of the Unknown Soldier in connection with the layin? of 3
wreath by members of Brigade 2506 who had participated in the
abortive of invasion of Cuba CAPOTE indicated that
GABRIEL GOMEZ DEL RIO, a former Cantain in the United States
who was in charge of the above ceremony , possessed al1
the details concerning this woman He suggested obtaining
copies of the photograph from MARTINEZ also intervier of
DEL RIO for all pertinent details concerning the event
On 6/5/68 , JOSE MARTINEZ identified above

the Unknown Soldier in memory of those lost in the of
invasion_ Indicating that he has had a personal relationship
in the past vith Senator KENNEDY subsequent to DEL RIO' $ relcase
as a prisoner in Cuba he advised that three prior to the
ceremony on 4/14/68.

the Tomb oF the Unknown Soldier Senator KENNEDY accented the
invitation and at approxima 2:00 on 4/14/68 anppared at
the Tomb of thc Unknown Soldier accompanied by KENNEDY and the
eldest KENNEDY daughter_ The Senator arrived Triving an open
convertible. After conferring inside the building at the Tomb
of the Unknow Soldier vith approxima 1? to 15 ncople
directly connected with the strictly memorial type of service,
Senator KENNEDY joined DEL RIC in the wrea th-laying ceremony .
He did not make 3 speech_ Accordling to DEL the event
received coa st to coast television coverase And althouch
a
smal1 proup participated in the cerenony , there weto an
estimated 1500 spectators in the area of tho Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier.

from the area of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier , the middle-aged
redheaded woman appearing in both photographs approached
Senator KENNEDY DEL RIO made an effort to physically force the
Senator to one side to avoid confrontation with the woman, but
the Senator rebuked his efforts and squarely faced the woman-
As related by DEL RIO_ who was standing next to Senator KENNEDY
a definite smell of

was evident about her _ She
immediately directed uncomplimentary remarks to Senator KENNEDY
such as "What the hell did you ever do for New York State
I'm a taxpayer from New York What are you
doing here?" Although
highly offensive and disre spectful in her words, DEL RIO stated
that nothing in the nature of a threat was made by this woman_
He stated that during her tirade Senator KENNEDY merely looked
her straight in the eye not saying anything He thereafter
returned to his car and departed the area
Subsequent to the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown
Soldier DEL RIO and the Brigade 2506 group went to the grave
of the

middle-aged man, who appears in the photographs with her DEL
RIO commented that this unidentified man also carried a strong

began making derzogatory comments about Cubans being trash and
that they should be thrown out of the country, DEL RIO indicated
that he lost his patience and personally had words with this
woman, calling her "a drunken bitch
