that he accompanied Senator KENNEDY ever since he entered the
primary presidential campaign.
BARRY related that he accompanied Senator KENNEDY
on his recent West Coast campaign and was his personal
representative in both the Oregon and Los Angeles primaries_
He related that during these travels, he at no time observed
SIRHAN SIRHAN Senator KENNEDY S suspected assassin. He
related that the crowd was
extremely large at the Ambassador
Hotel on the night when Senator KENNEDY gave his victory
speech . He mentioned that a large number of Latin Americans
were in attendance
BARRY advised that It was often Senator KENNEDY S
habit to depart a speclfic area or
podium by walklng directly
through the crowd rather than by another deslgnated exit_
After Senator KENNEDY 1 S victory speech, an

the press had set UP temporary headquarters _
BARRY fought his way through a dense crowd in an
effort to circle the Senator S right flank and take his cus-
tomary position Imedlately in front of Senator KENNEDY _
BARRY added that someone decided that It was best that the
Senator see the "'pencil press = S0 they could their early
morning stories to thelr respective papers before going to the
victory party In another rOOm
As BARRY was fighting his way through the crowa
along the wall to the Senator 8 right and as he was directly
opposite htm, he heard a sound which resembled a firecracker _
BARRY charged through the crowd directly toward Senator
KENNEDY and observed a white male wIth a gun - BARRY captured
this man, struck him trdce and In attempting to get a headlock
on the man, the gun fell on a nearby table _ The crowd was
Intense and struck at the assailant and BARRY _ His concern
was to protect the assallant and at the same time render
LmmedLate atd to Senator KENNEDY _ BARRY called ROOSEVELT
GRIER (poefesslonal football player) to hold and protect the
assailant and at the same tIme , directed RAFER JOHSON to
UP the gun which was lying on the table BARRY said
that during the swItch, the assa1lant somehow recovered
the gun as he made hs way toward Senator KENNEDY As he
approached the area where Senator KENNEDY was Laying, he had
to flght back the crowd whlch was practically standing on
the Senator _ He placed a jacket underneath the Senator S
head and the Los Angeles Police Department arrived at the
scene approxLmately s1x or seven mlnutes later.
BARRY mentioned that Inasmuch a3 the assailant

of Senator ROBERT FRANCIS KENNEDY_

HARWOOD said it
took him only three or four minutes to do this and then
he returned to There KENIEDY was shot. HARWOOD said the
suspect was being held on a
hotel serving table while
a crowd of angry persons were screaming to kill him.
The suspect was taken out of the hotel through the press
room which was the Colonial Room ,
HARTOOD went back to the kitchen area and
was told by BILL WEISZ , KEINEDY had been taken to the
hospital HARTOOD ran to the KENNEDY Suite on the
fifth floor of the hotel and was told KENNEDY had been
taken to the Central Receiving Hospital_

HARVOOD then
ran dowstairs to the parking lot entrance to the hotel
and asked 2 driver of a car to drive him to the Central
Receiving Hospital. Then HARTOOD followed KEIVNEDY , when
KENNEDY was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospitalo
Plasma was not available at Central Receiving Hospital
and KENNEDY had to be taken to the Good Samaritan
Hospital about one half mile away _ HARIOOD said he
later learned, KEVITEDY had no pulse, heartbeat or
respiration but was revived by heart massage and
adrenalin shots .
HARWOOD said he passed through the kitchen area
a number 0f times during the evening of June 4, 1968 and
could not recall having seen the suspect, SIRFAN SIRHAN
in the area, HARWOOD said kitchln employees at the hotel
