ARNOT 9 thereafter , furnished the description of the individual who, on arriving in the store, remained 597 ================================================== Page 4 ================================================== LA 56-156 Beparated from SIRHAN and his other associate at a distance of approximately six feet throughout the sales transaction: Race White Sex Male Height Weight Unrecalled Build Medium Hair Black or dark brown, wavy , M_ M unruly Complexion Unrecalled, clean shaven Age Unrecalled Nationality Possibly Mexican (ARNOT advised that he was not familiar with the character- istics of individuals with Middle Eastern backgrounds ) Contour of Face Unrecalled Width of Lips Unrecalled Shape of Nose Unrecalled Shape of Face Unrecalled Clothing ARNOT stated that he could not recall any items of wearing apparel he was wearing 598 5'4" ================================================== Page 5 ================================================== 1 LA 56-156 CKA /mmc The following investigation was conducted by SA C KENNETH ARNOLD and SA JAMES H 0 STANTON: Mr BENJAMIN HERRICK , Owner Lock, Stock n Barrel Gun Shop, 8972 Huntington Dri San Gabriel, Californ_a 9 was contacted on June 18 9 1968 and made a vailable for review his recorde 0f handgun ealez Mr HERRICK explained the laws of the State of California require a pers3n purchasing a handgun mait five days after purchase before picking up the gun from the store where it i8 purchaged _ The handgun records were reviewed and it waz observed that JEFFREY EWING , 1110 East Claremont Pasadena Californda purchased a handgun on Majy 25, 1968 ARNOLD GERSON, 9 11204 La Maida North Hollywood, California purchased a handgun on May 24, 1968. The handgun records disclose that there Were no purchases of handguns made on June 1, 1968 . Mr HERRICK also made available his records concerning the sale of rifles These records indicate Mr JOE CRNOGORAC 9730 Paramount Boulevard Downey California, was in the store on June 1, and made a purchase The saleg receipt books 0f the gun shop were also reviewed for June 19 1968 Thes e records did not contain the names of any persons making purchages on that date Mr HERRICK reviewed each of the sales tickets in an effort to recail who might have made purchases , but wa8 unable to remember any specific customer in the store on June 1, 1968. Mr HERRICK checked hi8 records of credit card sales for the Banklmericard and Maater Charge credit card gale: These are the only two credit cards which Mr HERRICK recognizes _ There were no sales made on either of these cards on June 1, 1968 . 599 ve, 1968 ================================================== Page 6 ================================================== 2 LA 56-156 CKA /mmc Mr HERRICK said that he could not explain how SIRHAN BISHARA SIRHAN selected the Locl, Stock n Barrel Gun Shop to make his purchase on June 1 9 1968 He; advised that he does not advertise in any kind of daily, weekly or throw-away newspaper _ His only advertisement is a small ad in the Yellow Pages of the San Gabriel Valley gection of the telephone book _ He aleo advised he does not cater to any gun C lubs , shooting clubs , etc Mr HERRICK advised that he could not recall any deliveries being made t? his store on June 1, other than the regular mail delivery which come: about 2:00 p.m , He pointed out that June 1, 1968 was a Saturday and that most delivery 8er 'vices , which frequent hi8 shop do not make deliveries that day . Mr HERRICK stated he has given the matter of identifying customers who might have been in the store at the same timc that SIRHAN BISHARA SIRHAN was there careful consideration . He stated he could not recall any customer being in the store during the pertinent period He said he would continue to consider this matter and would advise if he coula recall anyone who had been in the store at the appropriate time Mr HERRICK said he has discussed this matter wi th hz8 wife and neither of them could recall any customer who might have seen SIRHAN ana his associates when they were in the store Mrs BENJAMIN HERRICK (DONA ) advised on June 18, 1968 that she could furnish no information other than that already furnished her husband She stated she was not at the store on June 1 9 1968 _ She recalled that she was at hone on that date. She said that SIRHAN has not said more than hello to his brothers SAIDALLAH and SHARITR in over three years and she 18 positive that during the last three years SIRHAN did not see either SATDALLAH or SHARIF away from her residence at 1696 East Howard Street. SAIDALLAH noted that on numerous occasions he would visit the family residence at 1696 East Howard Street, at which time he would say hello to SIRHAN and on numerous occasions SIRHAN would not even acknowledge his hello_ SAIDALLAH stated that during this period he and SIRHAN never socialized together and he had not seen SIRHAN for approximately one month prior to June 1968 , SAIDALLAH stated that he does not own any firearms and he personally has not frequented a gun shop. SHARIF said that at no time has he ever been to the Wooden Shoe Restaurant in the company of SIRHAN and to his Iowledge SIRHAN has never been to the Wooden Shoe Restaurant . Detective AHARONLAN related that in checking public utilities and the Post Office Department_ it was determined that a JAMS L WILSON resided at 2317 West Main Street , Apartment A , Alhambra 9 and that he had left this address on or about June 1, 1968, n? forwarding address given Post Office inforaation was obtained from Inspector JACK CLIFFORD_ 9 United States Post Office , Los Angeles 9 who had advised Detective AHARONIAN that the mail carrier covering that address had reported a JAMES L. JIM stayed in the apartment until approximately PM when the bars opened and at that time, he and RICHARD went to the Spa Bar on Main Street to draw money for their employment They returned at approximately 9 :30 PM _ JIM left at 10:03 PM to g0 to Sam S Bar and at approximately 10;30 PM, RHONDA went to the bar to him and they returned approxinately 20 minutes later They all s tayed in the apartment watching television until the early morning of June 5, 1968 .
