SPLITTER stated that although he remained in the Coc8nut Grove after being informed of the shooting, he heard 3 considerable amount of commotion in the lobby and subsequently saw several women crying hysterically immediately outside the entrance way to the Coconut Grove _ SPLITTER stated that midway through the course ofl the evening June 4 , 1968 9 he visited the Embassy Room in the hdpes of viewing Senator KENNEDY but only learned that the Senatdr would not make an appearance until approximately 11 PM and returned to the Grove to regume his duties SPLITTER stated that after it was learned that tke Senator had been shot the as8istant maitre d $ announced to a11 of the Coc&nut Grove staff that they would be detained until such time a8 the Los Angeles Police Department permitted them to leave SPLITTER stated that he remained in the Coc&nut Grove until approxima 2:30 on the morning of June 5 , 1968 9 at which time he was informed that he was free to Lealve.
