Gallagher 8 Steak House, 228 West 52nd Street , New York,
New York. He stated that he writes for several newspapers
throughout the United States and that hie agent is the
Sterling Lord Literary Agency , 75 East 55th Street, New York,
New York. He resides at 52 Deepdene Road, Forest Hille,
New York_
Start on March 17, 1968, he covered several
of Scnator ROBERT YENNEDY 8 Presidential campaign trips
Dur- the evening of_ June 4 , 1968, he was in the
Ambaseador Hotel in Los Angeles , California, when Senator
KIENNEDY made his victory speech_ The Embasey Room in which
Senator KENNEDY made his epeech was very crowded 80 BRZSLIN
Went to the press room which was near the Embassy Room and
watched the speech on television
When the speech ended an individual, he thinks was
DICK DRAYNZ of Senator ROBERT KENNEDY 8 staff, appeared at
the door of the press room and said that Senator ROBERT
KZNNEDY wa8 on his way to the press room. Senator ROBERT
KENNEDY after his speeches made it a habit to visit the
press room and talk to the press
BRESLIN Went to the door of the press room to wave
to Senator ROBZRT KENNEDY _ He did not s ee Senator ROBERT
KENNEDY , but while at the doorway he heard what at first he
thought wa8 a tray drop to the floor_ It was a
shot and there

or four more At the most, BRESLIN heard
four or five shots_ People were running and screaming and
BRESLIN ran towards where the sound of the shots came from
Many persons in the cro1d were screaming_ Thes e
people Were to BRZSLIN 8 left Senator ROBZRT KENNEDY was
lying to BRESLIN 8 left. In the imediate vicinity was PAUL

BARRY had someone by the arm which was ext ended
up and which hand held a black-barrelkistol. The hand
withi the pistol then W ent down onto a table. Someone was
jumping on the table_ The hand holding the gun dropped it
and then something happened and the hand again picked up
the gun ROSIE GRIXR then threw a male on a table and held
him down and grabbed the male by the arm_ BRISLLN then sal
the person on the table for the first time_ It was SIRHAN
SIRHAN _ At this moment ROSIE GRIER wa8 holding the gun in
his, GRIIR 8 , left hand _
At approximately this time GZORGE PLIMPTON had
SIRHAN by his head ; WARRIN ROGZRS had his left leg; and
RAFER JOHNSON was grabbing hi8 hand_
BRESLIN was of the impression at the time that
the gun was still loaded and he tried to it away from
ROSIE GRLER_ GRIER would not release the gun RAFER
JOHNSON then asked GRIER for the gun and GRIER gave the
gun to JOHNSON_
BRESLIN, standing Very close to SIRHAN and being
face to face with him, asked him twice, did you have to
i1 do it? STRHAN' s eyes were rolling and he did not answer_
SIRHAN then tried to thrash around with his legs and body,
but those holding him kept him secure.
After SIRHAN SIRHAN wa8 secured by BARRY , JOHNSON ,
GRIER, PLIMPTON_

and ROGZRS, and being held by GRLER,
JOHNSON PLIMPTON and ROGERS , BILL BARRY Went to Senator
ROBERT KENNEDY BRESLIN occasionally looked over at Senator
ROBERT KENNEDY _
The police then arrived and SIRHAN was turned over
to them by GRIZR, JOHNSON , PLIMPTON and ROGERS .
BRESLIN stated that he did not See the actual
shooting and that he had not seen SIRHAN before this _ He
saw no one in a polka dot dress .

on the California Primary trip_ At the time of the
assagsination of Mr KNNEDY , in the early morning hour8
of June 5, 1968, at the Ambaxaador Hotel in Los Angeles,
California, he wa8 out of the hotel getting something to
eat and did not observe anything directly in connection
With the assa88ination At no tine during any of Senator
KINNEDY 8 speeches in California did he ever 8ee SIRHAN
SIRHAN , the alleged aseassin of Mr KENNEDY , and does
not recall seeing any girl in a
polka dot dress alleged to
have been seen talking to SIRHAN 8ometime prior to the
assassination. He was unable to furnish any pertinent
information in connection with the a8sa88ination of Mr
KENNEDY or any information concerning the alleged assassin_

was interviewed at his residence and furnished the
following information conc- erning his whereabouts at the
time Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY was shot at the Ambassador
Hotel, 3400 Wilghire Boulevard_ Los Angel California,
in the early morning hours of June 5, 1968_
FINDLY advised he is a free lance sound man,
and on June 4, 1968 , he wa8 employed by the Columbia
Broadcasting System (CBS) network to assist in the
coverage of the California primary election returns at
the Ambassador Hotel_ During this coverages FINDLY stated
he worked with a free lance cameram_ JOH VIAZANKO ,
also employed by CBS _ FINDLY recalled he arrived at the
Ambagsador Hotel at about 7:00 p.m, on June 4, 1968

and
until 11.30 p.m_ remained in the Embassy Room and Colonial
Room; the latter designated as the official Press Room .
FINDLY stated that at about 11:30 p.m, he accompanied
VIAZANKO to the nearby Beverly Hilton Hotel to 9 ome
film, and returned to the Ambassador Hotel at about
12.10 a.m_ on June 5, 1968_ They immediately returned to
the Embassy Room and were situated adjacent to the speakers
platform when Senator KENNEDY made his victory speech
Upon the completion of Senator KENNEDY' s speech, FINDLY
and VIAZANKO remained in the Embassy Room and secured
geveral photographs of the crowd Moments after Senator
KENNEDY left the speakers platform, FINDLY heard what
sounded like two balloons burst, then heard several more
bursts _ FINDLY and VIAZANKO immediately ran into the vacant
area between the speakers platform and the Embassy Room
service pantry_

at which time FINDLY obs erved a male
Caucasian who had been shot FINDLY did not recall this
individual'& name but stated this gentleman was employed
by North American Airlines _ Due to the impact of the crowd,
FINDLY and VIAZANKO were pushed away from the area where
Senator KENNEDY had been shot, however, FINDLY observed
Senator KENNEDY being removed from the 8ervice pantry on a
stretcher

and at that moment FREED heard noises which sounded to hin
like firecrackers going off He then looked up and saw a
man shooting
a gun _ Some people_ were trying to_grab the
individual While others were 'hitting the floor" The man
who was doing theshooting subsequently was
identified
as
SIRHAN SIRHAN SIRHAN was the only person FREED saw shooting.
FREED did not see Senator KENNEDY hit by gunfire or see him

in Senator KENNEDY 8 suite in the Ambagsador Hotel,
Los Angeles , California, with Senator KENNEDY and JIMY
BRESLIN_

Senator KENNEDY When Senator KENNEDY was on hiz way to make
hie victory speech _
There was confusion at the elevators and
HAMILL did not get on the same elevator with Senator KENNEDY
During Senator KENNEDY 8 speech, HAMTLL stood on
the podium to Senator KENNEDY 8 rear and left_ This was
near the left rear corner of the podium near some drapes and
some etairs that went down- Standing near HAMTLL were GEORGE
PLIMPTON, the writer, and PLIMPTON ' & wifes FREDDY Standing
near the stairs was BILL BARRY of Senator KENNZDY 8 etaff_
Ii 1i During the speech a guy or a "kid" tried to
get on the podium by coming through the drapes which Were
in back of HAMILL. BILL BARRY noticed this individual
and told him to out HAMILL Would not recognize this
individual if he saw him again_
Wh en Senator KENNEDY finished his speech, HAMTLL
or PLIMPTON asked BILL BARRY which way to go out .

BARRY pointed to a corridor to the pantry _ HAMILL and
PLIMPTON went out that way which was down the nearby
stairs and HAMILL did not 8ee Senator KENNEDY leave the
um HAMILL next saw Senator KENNEDY in the pantry_
HAMILL was walking &long with GFORGE PLIMPTON in front of
Senator KENNEDY and to his (Senator KENNEDY 8 ) right about
ten feet _ HAMILL did not krnow that Senator KENNEDY was
going to the press room but thought Senator KENNEDY
was headed for "The Factory II where a party was to be
held _ As HAMILL was walking along and looking back,
he saw Senator KENNEDY turn to his left to shake
hands with s omeone_ After Senator KENNEDY shook: hands
with thi8 individual, he (Senator KENNEDY) turned to
continue Walking straight ahead _ At thiz time what
HAMILL thought Were five shots Were fired in Very
rapid succession HAMILL looked and saw SIRHAN SIRHAN
who wa8 standing in front of and to Senator KENNEDY 8
left about sev en or eight feet with hig SLRHAN 8 )
arm fully ext ended and hig face in tremendous conc entration
shooting a gun at Senator KENNEDY _ Senator KENNEDY
was falling to the floor and someone caught Senator
KENNEDY
M # ROSIE GRIER ran by HAMILL and elammed SIRHAN into
a table. GEORGE PLIMPTON rushed over to SIRHAN and Went
for the gun RAFER JOHNSON came out of somewhere and HAMTLL
thinks that JOHNSON got the gun SIRHAN was "thrown
up on a table" or group of tables and 11 elid down to the
end of the table" or tables ,
There was much yelling and noise and HAMTLL
was momentarily "stupified" He then looked at his
watch_ It wa8 12:12 a .m. , June 5, HAMTLL heard
people saying such things to SIRHAN a8 did you do it?"
HAMILL did not hear STRHAN say anything.
HAMILL stated that he did not see or notice
SLRHAN before the shooting. HAMILL did not touch SIRHAN _

press room to his brother BRIAN HAMILL, a photographer,
who did not have a pass to in to watch the speech _
HAMTLL etated that he looked at hig watch
when Senator KENNEDY 8 body was removed and it was
12:32 3.m.
After the shooting WARREN ROGERS of "Look Magazine MI
and BUD SCHULBZRG, a writer who lives in Loe Angeles,
came out of the press room and into the room where the
shooting occurred
HAMILL stated that he heard later that there
was an entrance to the hotel near the press room in Which
entrance to the hotel and the kitchen or pantry area
could be easily had_

following information:
He accompanied the campaign party of Senator
ROBERT F, KENNEDY through Oregon and California, having
joined the group in the middle of March
Ax the time 0f the shooting of Senator KENNEDY
he was in the t emporary press headquarters located in the
Colonial Room of the Ambasgador Hotel in Loe Angeles , California_
Senator KENNEDY 8 victory speech was watched by
Mr HERBERS and other members 0f the preee corps on a
television set in the Colonial Room _ About the time
Senator KENNEDY wa8 giving his speech they were notified
the Senator would come to the press room for a news
11 conference for the "writing press It had been understood
during the ev 'ening of June 4, 1968, that the Senator would
appear before the pre8s, howev er, the exact time was not
known until the election trend had been firmly established .
Approximat five minutes before the shooting, they were
notified the Senator would be there shortly.
Mr _ HERBERS stated there were probably between 8ix

He stated he works a8 the electrician with the crew
0f JIM WILSON and BOB FUNK _ The crew had been under contract
to Columbia Broadcaeting System (CBS) , Washington, D. C., for
coverage of Senator KENNEDY 8 presidential campaign LEWIS
said he wae not on the Oregon campaign, except the last
night , due to being on his honeymoon_
On: the night of the assa8sination the crew Was in
Senator KENNEDY 8 suite of rooms before the speech in the
Embassy Room , As they left to go to the Embagsy Room the
Senator rode down on the elevator and the crew ran down five
flights of etairs They filmed the speech from the stage_
After the speech LEWIS said BILL BARRY eaid, "iBOBBY_

The Senator anewered "No"i and headed down the steps toward
the rear IEWIS said they followed about ten to twelve
feet behind . He first heard the shets When they reached the
II swinging doors It sounded like a 'pop: then a number of

filming and knelt down t0 KENNEDY 8 head LEWIS said he
told JIMMY to keep shooting. JIMMY waa crying and shouting
and wa: not looking through the view finder_ LEWIS stated
he grabbed the lens and aimed it the beet he could _ At the
end of the magazine JIMY said, "I can't do anymore, We re
out of film_ 9i LEWIS baid he ran to the Colonial Room and
got another magazine_ He fought his way back to the kitchen
and gave the magazine to BOB FUNK , JIMY then threaded the
film and laid the camera aside_ LEWIS said he helped blocl
the entrance, where KENNEDY wa8 eventually taken out, with
two laundry carts .

struggling with SIRHAN and holding hin down _ TURNER said he
continued on down the hall and obtained an open line on a
telephone to his New York office
He went back down the hall where Senator KENNEDY
lay and observed SIRHAN sill being restrained on a table

of some individuals who might be potlential witnesses _ These
individuals were as follows:

ERNST stated he walked into the lobby of the hotel in the
early part of the evening on June 4, but due to the large crowd of
people he decided to return to his room He said he therefore
went to his room and watched the appearance of Senator ROBERT KENNEDY
on television. ERNST advised further that he does not know SIRHAN
SIRHAN and does not recall ever seeing him until his picture ap- 6
peared in the news media
ERNST said he did not attend any of the American College
of Hospital Administrators! meetings
as he preferred to remain
close to the television and keep abreast of Senator KENNEDY 8
condition.

she wanted to see him in person and to
witness the reported charisma and charm which he exudes
At approxima 11 30 pm on June 4 1968_ she went to the
Ambassador Hotel with VERNON THOMPSON_
3 an NBC electronics
technician and parked the car at the rear of the
Ambassador They went to the Ballroom located underneath
the Embassy Room in the hopes of seeing the Senator but
when he did not arrive by 11;45 pm THOMPSON left to see
where he was and came back and said that the Senator would be
upstairs THOMPSON told her that he had gone to the NBC
truck located outside the building

Senator appear in the upstairs Ballroom on the television
monitors located in the truck They then went up the
stairs leading to the Embassy Room and entered the Embassy
Room

passing by a guard who did not challenge them
They took up a position approximately four people
deep from the front of the tform and just to the Senator 8
right _ Just before the Senator finished his speech, a cordon
of men formed to the Senator' 8 right

directly behind an individual whom she described as being

blue wooly sports coat, light blue shirt and light blue

She tried to get through him, but he would not let her
through; however_ another large man was about to barge
through When this happened she told the person in front
of her "How come you didn' t let me through when you just

individual who was standing on the second step: pushed aside
the crepe paper with his foot and &he wondered what
he Vaz doing: but decided that there Wvere
perhaps some television cables down there He did this on
two occasions , once approrimately three minutes before
the Senator finished his speech and the other time just a
few seconds before the speech ended _
The Senator did not come through the cordon of
men which was established for him, but exited the Ballroom
through S Ome curtains to the rear of the Ballroom Moments
later she heard four rapid and distinct cracks which sounded
m1 like crackers She then heard screams and shouts that
the Senator had been shot_

until she saw a young girl proceeding from the kitchen area
with the look of stark terror in her eyes She tried to
go into the kitchen area and was pushed into
a corner by the crowd which exerted Rressure
from both directions: She heard a request for a doctor and
then one young woman who said she was a nurse was able to

obtain a tray of ice. She obtained ice Trom the ice
ma chine in the passageway , but a8 shel was returning to the
victim someone took it from her and Ichrew it away , saying

appeared conscious

area until the Senator was wheeled away some ambulance
attendants and then she returned to the main Ballroom where
she told everyone that the Senator was all right _
She later returned to her parked car with
THOMPSON and discusged seeing the individual on the
platform steps poking under the platform with his shoe
They then went back to the Ballroom and observed the bracing
under the steps was very narrow

one foot wide
She went with THOMPSON to the NBC Burbank Studios
and stayed there until approximately 4:00 am .
She stated that she telephonically contacted the
Los Angeles Police Department and informed the department
about what she had seen in the Ballroom for whatever
8ignificance it would have in their investigation She
wa: shown photographs of SIRHAN BISHARA SIRHAN taken following
his apprehension and she advised that the individual who
stood in front of her at the bottom of the tform steps
in her opinion

get very close because of the crowd and the number of newsmen
who were pushing ahead of him. He did not see KENNEDY again
until after the shooting.
He was about twenty or more feet behind the KENNEDY
party in the corridor when he heard what he bhought
were either shots or the slamming of refrigerator doors in
the kitchen Next , he heard someone
shout to the effect that KENNEDY had been shot, and persons he
believed to be KENNEDY aides were screaming for people to
get out There was much shoving as the crowd surged forward
and he could see cameramen with television lights focusing
on somebody on the floor_ There was complete confusion and
8omeone hit him in the left ribs He saw Mr SCHRADE lying
on the floor, and at this time there were about twenty-five
or
thirty persons in that area_
He worked his waj close to the left wall and
within a few feet of where the Senator was lying on the floor

KLINE Press Relations Manager for Senator: KENNEDY in the
Los Angeles area HARRIS just prior to the time that
Senator KENNEDY was shot at the Ambassador Hotel in
Los Angeles was in the Press Room set up for the KENNEDY
campaign party at the hotel When Senator KENNEDY was
about halfway through his speech in the Embassy Room

went to her room in the hotel to pack and prepare to leave
When she returned to the area of the Embassy Room
9
she
learned that Senator KENNEDY had been shot
The Los Angeles Police Depertment (LAPD) had
talked to SUE HARRLS and she had furnished an address book
of individuals who Were connected with the KENNEDY campaign
staff
HARRIS stated that she had a boy friend HARVEY
PE PPER , who had been in the Embassy Room at the time of the
shooting and had stated to her that he had been really
close to the shooting_ She did not know whether HARVEY
PEPPER had been interviewed in this matter the FBI
She was of the opinion that the Police Department had
interviewed Mr PEPPER who lived in an apartment on Kings
Road near Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles , telephone 653-5366.

he and his wife are good friends of' JUDY ROYER and
on the night of June 4 , 1968

they went to the Ambasgador Hotel
to await the results of the California primary election They
arrived at epproximately 7:30 PM and, with the use of some blue
passes which JUDY ROYER had obtained for them, they went to the
Embassy Room of the hotel
KLASE and his wife spent mos t of the evening in the
Embassy Room but at approximately 1l:00 PM he left the room
to get some drinks After leaving the room, the security
guard at the main entrance refused to let him in because the
room had become crowded In an effort to reenter the room, he
went through the kitchen area. At that time, he did not
notice anyone in the kitchen_
Upon reentering the Embassy Room, he went to the
area where the ABC television cameras were set up to await the
arrival of Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY _
While wa iting in the vicinity of the television
cameras 8 man who was monitoring one of the doors adjacent
to the podium on which Senator KENNEDY was to give his speech,
asked him if he would mind watching the door for a few minutes _
KLASE consented to watch the door and while doing 80 he observed
a man who was later identified to him a8 SIRHAN BLSHA RA SIRHAN
attempting to pass through the door_ As SIRHAN &ttenpted to
go through the door_

KLASE tapped him on the shoulder and said
that no one was allowed in; the area other than menbers of the
ABC staff_ At this point
9
SIRHAN turned around and went back
into the central area of the Embassy Room. At the time KLASE
obgerved him, he was wearing a light blue pullover shirt and
blue wash trousers_ SIRHAN did not have a jacket on &nd
KLASE observed that since the shirt and trousers were tight
fitting it wa8 unlikely that SIRHAN had a gun in his possess ion
at this time_

Approrimately one half hour after the incident

Senator KENNEDY arrived to give his victory
speech On the arrival of Senator KENNEDY one of the doors
which KLASE had previously been watching was opened direc
in front of him and he was unable to see Senator KENNEDY _
After listening to the Senator for a few minutes he left the
Embassy Room; passed through the kitchen and went to the
Colonial Room While passing through the area of the kitchen,
he met JUDY ROYER and she ac companied him to the Colonial Room _
Upon arrival at the Colonial Room they watched the Senator on
television for a few minutes and then dec ided to try to return
to the Embassy Room by means of the kitchen area
As he and ROYER were walking through the kitchen, they
saw the crowd moving cowards the Colonial Room and realized
that Senator KENNEDY had finighed his speech and was now making
his way towards the Colonial Room by way of the kitchen area
Since Wanted to avoid the crowd surrounding Senator KENNEDY
9 they both turned around and were making their way back towards
the Colonial Room when KLASE heard several loud pops which
sounded like firecrackers At this point , he was approximately
30 feet from Senator KENNEDY and he could not ac
tually see the
Senator_ However he did see people pushing and struggling
with someone At this point there was a great deal of shouting
and someone yelled that the door should be watched and
no one be allowed to come in KLASE went to the door of the
Colonial Room and refuged to allOw anyone entrance into the
kitchen area After standing at the door to the Colonial Room
for a few minutes one the 8ecurity guards came by and KLASE
asked him to keep the people from coming into the kitchen area
He then attempted to go to the area where the shooting had
occurred but because of the crowd he wa; unable to see any of
the injured people
While standing in the vicinity of the Colonial Roon
door_ he observed officers of the Los Angeles Police Department
taking SIRHAN BISHARA SIRHAN out of the area At this point_

has no recollection of seeing anyone resembling SIRHAN STRHAN .
MITCHLL said that she had talked to 8 female who was in the
Embassy Room at the time of the shooting, who had claimed that
she had seen a person she thought to be SIRHAN SIRHAN in the
Embassy Room prior to the shooting, but she did not know this
person 8 name and could not furnish a good description at thig
point except she was a Caucas1an_ MITCHELL said that
the Los Angeles Police had questioned her at the Ambagsador Hotel
shortly following the shooting, at the time that they were
8eeking witnesses_ Later 3 Sergeant from the Los Angeles
Police Department had contacted her and she had given him all
0f the negatives of the pictures she had taken during the
evening_ She could not recall the full name of the Sergeant
but &e had said the phonetic spelling Of che last name Was

RICHARD is employed in the International Department of the
Bank of' America in San Francisco.
Mr ORFA LEA said that on the basis of what
RICHARD had related following the assas8ination of Senator
ROBERT F KENNEDY RICHARD had not actually obs erved the
shooting_ There had been 8 ome epeculation conc erning
whether or not RICHARD had obs erved SIRHAN SIRHAN in the
Embassy Room at the Ambassador Hotel prior to the shooting.
Concerning the identity of DAVID ROCHE, who

of the Ambassador Hotel

celebration of Senator ROBERT KENNEDY At that particular
time ORFALEA was alone and noticed 3 young man standing along
the side of the room off to the right of the speaker S
form This individual seemed out of place a5 he was dressed
shabbily and appeared to be of foreign extraction

Cuban He was probably about 22 to 24 years of age , approxi-
mately 5 ' 5 " tall, had dark eyes dark hair

and was of slight
build He was wearing a nylon-type jacket similar to 3 wind-
breaker

but ORFALEA does not recall the color of the jacket.
MC LAUGHLIN later joined ORFALEA in the Embassy Room ; however ,

one had been shot_ MC LAUGHLIN suggested that they go over by
the telephone booths on the second floor a3 there would be
reporters congregating in that area and they might learn
who had been shot went to the telephone booths and
talked to an unknown reporter who told then Senator KENNEDY
had been shot. About this time a
security officer

who appeared to have his hands handcuffed behind his back

of foreign extraction , short and of slim build_
ORFALEA could furnish no further description of the individual
At the time ORFALEA was of the opinion this individual was
the same person he had seen earlier in the e

Embassy Room and who appeared to be out of Place However

he now is not sure that it was the same individual_
ORFALEA was shown three pictures of SIRHAN SIRHAN ,
and after studying these pictures stated that the strange
individual he saw in the Embassy Room about 11:00 P.m = on the
night of June 4 9 196 8

but that he i8 rather about the matter at this time and
cannot be certain

Miss VALERTE SCHULTE , interviewed &t her temporary
residence Apartment 3, 6587 Del Playa , furnished the following
information:
She Was, during the past year a student , at University
of California , Santa Barbara (UCSB) During this past spring,
she was Headquarters Manager of the Kennedy for President Head -
quarters in Isla Vista which is adjacent to the UCSB campus
On the night of June 4 , 1968_ she , and others on the
staff worked at the headquarters

about 8:00 P.M_ and then
went t0 Los Angeles to join in the festivities at the Ambassador
Hotel where Senator KENNEDY had his headquarters on the fifth
floor_ They arrived at the hotel at approximately 10.00 P M. and
went to their rooms on the third floor of the hotel After
"partying" awhile
a couple of the girls in the group went to the
fifth floor to the KENNEDY headquarters and when they came down
they heard that Senator KENNEDY was going to leave his room and
go to the ballroom on the first floor _

and several others, decided to go to the fifth
floor where they could get a look at Senator KENNEDY _ They took
the elevator and when they arrived at the fifth floor and the
doors opened, a rush of reporters into the elevator kept them
from getting off The reporters said that Senator KENNEDY had
gone down to the main floor 80 stayed on the elevator and
went to the first floor They then learned that Senator KENNEDY
had gone into the Emba8sy Room at the hotel to greet the crowd _
On the elevator she met DICK FRICK anocher member of the Isla
Vista group of workers FRICK had a press pass and he went into
the Embassy Room with the pre8s _ She wa8 not allowed in the room
a8 she did not have a pass _
Miss SCHULE stated that she wa 8 on crutches from a
recent leg operation and did not want to get into the press of
the crowd a8 she had very poor balance and she was afraid of
getting lmocked down and crushed At the door of the Embassv
Room she saw state Senator BEILENSON and {118 Wife. She recognized

them a8 she had met them before They al8o could not get in
the Embassy Room, however the becurity guard on the door told
them of another waj into the room This way was through the
back way and through a pantrv apparently somewhere near the
kitchen She asked BE TLENSON if she could along" with him
and his wife_
She followed BEILENSON into the pantry and through a
door into the Embassy Room, which put them into the room about
four to five feet from the stage There wa8 a tremendous crowd
in the room and after listening to Senator IENNEDY speak she
dec ided that she should out of the way before he left and
the crowd kocked her down _ She then lefx the room and took a
position where she thought she would be able to 8ee Mr KENNEDY
and still be out of the middle of the crowd She felt that he
would leave from the front of the stage and pa8s through two
lines of volunteer workers who appeared to be forming a pagsage -
way for hin_
She left the room and went into one of the small rooms
just off the stage entrance In a few moment: she saw Mr KENNEDY
abouc three to four feec from her_ He apparentlyhad left the etage
by a different rouce than had been planned , Mr KENNEDY wa8
leaving the Embassy Room via the back way , which was the way she
came into the room _
While Mr KENNEDY was
leaving,the room, he wa8 tallring
and shaking hands and she "tagged along in the crowa behind. She
wa8 about four to five feet from Mr KENNEDY when she 82W him
curn to either greet or shake hands with a group of kitchen
worlrers who were lined against the wall of the corridor At
almost the same time she saw a gun in che hands of a man who
seemed to be reaching tovard Mr KENNEDY and pointing the gun at
him She noted that it was a small gun, black in color, and
with a very short barrel She thought at first it wa8 a and
then she heard what she later learned were shots She still
did not realize what was happening She saw the gun and the man
holding it and he seemed to Ireep shooting and shooting She wa8
noc sure how many shocs she heard but felt there must ha ve been
at least six She then realized there was shooting and felt that
8omeone wa8 going to shoot everyone in the room_ It appeared *0
