eight shots and al1 shots expended Pistol sold in

NARRATIVE OF EVENTS
CONCERNING SHOOTING FROM
LOCAL NEWS MEDIA
At approximately 12.15
a June 5, 1968
9 moments after
delivering an election victory speech before a crowd of approx-
ima tely 1,000 people in the Emba 88y Room of the Ambassador Hotel,
3400 Wilshire Boulevard

KENNEDY was shot by an unidentified assailant The shooting
occurred a8 Senator KENNEDY and his entourage left the ballroom
through a kitchen exit
The &ssailant, later identified as SIRHAN BISHARA SIRHAN
9 fired 3 series of shots in rapid succession, injuring five other
individuals in the melee
As Senator KENNEDY fell ba ckward onto the floor SIRHAN
was seized by Los eles Rams Lineman ROOSEVELT GRIER and
wrestled to the floor by GRIER and former Olympic Decathlon
Champion RA FER JOHNSON _

who disarmed SIRHAN of a 22 caliber
revolver
SIRHAN who carried no identification and refused to
admit his identity, was turned over to the Los Angeles Police
1 Department and booked as "John Doe on a charge of assault with
intent to commit murder

been shot in the head and right shoulder and was subsequently
taken to the Los Angeles Central Receiving Hospital for emergency
treatment He wa8 immediately thereafter transported to Hospital
of the Good Samaritan, 1212 Shatto Street , Ios Angeles , which if
approxima tely three and one-half blocks fron the Central Receiving
Hospital-
Upon his arrival at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan,
six neurosurgeons operated on Senator KENNEDY for approxima tely
four hours to remove the 22 caliber bullet which had fragmented
into several parts in his right brain area

"At about 12.25 a I was in the ambulance
office with several other drivers and attendante
I noticed a yellow cab drive to ambulance entrance
of' There was a motorcycle eecort guard

entered room requesting help because 8 Oe one had
been shot Then , abou t six driverg and attendants
went outside to ambulance ramp and observed a young
white male sitting in rear of the cab I ag8isted

wheechair I determined he had bullet wounds in his
left leg Attendant TOM RATLIFF took the patient
into the hospital and I ordered the cab and the motor-
cycle to clear the anbulance area The man who came
in the ambulance office told ue KENNEDY wae ghot

ambulance backed up to the dock I opened the rear
door of khe ambulance I opened the Gilson beli , a
belt which covers the rear door and i8 a protective

In the cab , I obgerved Mr BARRY KENNEDY 1 S bodyguard
and a% least one other pereon riding in the cab Dr
BAZILAUSKAs entered the ambulance and attended to Mr
KENNEDY I releaeed the skretcher and proceeded to
roll it from the ambulance We wheeled the stretcher
inside xhe hospital to treatment room { 2 . Ag We were
entering roon 72, Mrs KENNEDY grabbed a camera
from a news cameranan and knocked it to the floor
She also swung at hin and hit him in the chest area

"KENNEDY ' 8 bodyguard jumped over the stretcher and
attacked the photographer wrestled With each
other for several seconde and were separated by L.A.P,D_
officers , Hospital Detail I then nheeled the stret- %#8
cher into room # 2 and helped lift Mr KENNEDY onto
the treatment table I removed the stretcher from
room # 2_ In treatment roor 2, there were doctors ,
narees , and membere of' the KENNEDY group
"I was then paged over the public addrese
system and dispatched to the Ambassador Hotel a8
8 request for 2 more ambulances had been received
RATLIFF and I drove ambulance G-15 to ihe hotel
On arrival, we were guided to rear entrance of'
the hotel We took our etretcher and first-aid kit
and entered the hotel by the rear entrance We
were guided to the freight elevator which we took
to the third floor TTe were guided through the
corridors We located one victim in 2 corridor He
was Lying on the floor We examined him and de -
termined he was not critical I do not recall his
injuries We left hin and told him a private ambu-
lance following J8 would take him We were led into
the Embassy Room Where we found Mrs EVANS She
was just to the left of the speakers stand in the Em-
bassy Room The xoon very crowded #ith people The
tine wa 8 about 12.40 a m _ Mre _ EVANS was lying on
her back on 8 table There was 8 man , who cla imed he
was a
doctor attending to hex He gaid ehe had a
bleeder' in the forehead RATLIFF and I examined her
and determined she had a laceration on her forehead
We applied a preesure dressing over the wound and
placed her on the etretcher We Were then advised
of enother injury of a photographer who had been
hit in the head with a camera We examined him and
determined he had a laceration on the rear of the
head We took both patients down the freight ele
vator and out the rear entrance We loaded them in

the ambulance and proceeded to Cenrral Receiv-
Code 3 On arrival at the hospital, We unloaded
the patients and placed them in treatment rooms
"At about 1:00 a . in I went to treatment room
3} 2 and ae8isted transferring Mr KENNEDY fron
treatment table to stretcher We wheeled the
stretcher ou t to the loading ramp and placed it
into ambulance G-16_ Mrs KENNEDY and several
other people in the KENNEDY group and a doctor went
in this ambulance Which Was traneferring Mr
KENNEDY from Central Receiving Hogpital to Good
Samaritan Hoepital at Luca s and Shatto St about
4 blocks fron Central Receiving During the t ime
we were loading Mr KENNEDY into ambulance , the
hospital corridors and entrance were jammed with
crowdg We were slowed in our efforte to load him
into the ambulance due to the large nr crowd
in and in front of' the hospital

at the photographer I then observed the white
male leap over the stretcher and strike the
photographer full in the face and he fell to
the ground
V I then worked the stretcher through
the crowd and into treatment roon number 2
I then heard Dr Baz say 1 Come on hurry let'&
get him on the table 8 0 I can examine hin .
At this point Dr Bas placed his hands under the
middle back of Mr Kennedy and attempted to lift
Mr Kennedy up onto the table I obgerved that
Dr Bas lifted Mr Kennedy approximately 1 and
22 feet (12) off the stretcher and Robert and
myself brought the stretcher up a8 he was
being lifted At this point Dr Bas logt his
balance and he (Dr Bas) falls forward toward
the table and placed Mr Kennedy on the table
I observed that when Dr Bas lifted Mr Kennedy
the oxygen bottle that was between his legs fell
to the floor and the air mask was subsequen-
left on Mr Kennedy' 8 face but the air tube had
been pulled out

Dr NOGUCHI wa s in charge of
the autopsy performed that morning on Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY _
Mr _ MC ROY advised that an individual from the
Photographic Laboratory of the Los Angeles Police Department
a8 well a8 their official photographer of the Coroner 8
Department had made photographs of the decedent
Mr MC ROY stated that the results of autopsy had
been dictated that morning by Dr NOGUCHI and wzie presently
being transcribed into a rough draft form_ When the rough
draft form is completed Mr MC ROY stated that he and the
doctor would
then take time
to edit and make necessary corrections
after whi ch the results would be placed in teir final form for
approval _ Mr _ MC ROY said that this might take from five to
possibly seven days _
Nr MC ROy said that just a8 soon a8 this report i8
completed and is approved that a copy will be made available
to the FBI , that he would immediately telephone the FBI to
advise when this copy 18 ready _

Dur ing chz ear morn ing hourg of June 5, 1968 ,
he was seated behind an open panel in the sloping ce iling
of the Embassy Room at the Ambassador Hotel taicing photographs
of general interest of the KENNEDY contingent and supporters
who were in the rjom below him He wa2 approximately 15 feet
above the floor and epproximately 53 feet from the ium
directly across the room fror ROBERT KENNEDY _
He was u8 a Topcon 35 min camera with automatic
diaphragm and shooting at 1/62 of a second: The camera was
equipped with two lenses on a rotat ing ewivel One was a
135 mi lens and the other wa8 a 53 mm Wide-angle lens He
wa: 48 ing Tri-X black and white film
He furnished three photographe and threz negatives
which were taken through the 53 im Wida-angle lens which
were taken just pr ior to the shooting of Senator KENNEDY
He al80 furnished three photographs and threz negativee
taken through the 135 mm lens which were taken just
subsequent co the ehooting A11 photographs ehow the
crowd around the Ur on the fluor of the Embassy Room
in the Ambaagador Hotel

leads to the serving kritchen area_ S@ALPERS edvised thet he
did not personally witnes8 the route of exit being used by
Senator KENNEDY , but he learned the cetails 0f same , he said,
fron talking to several other eraployees who Wer8 there;
