DAVID MONTEELANO
and myself attended the San
Gabriel Rifle Range for target shooting. DAVID re-
sides at 3314 Maceo Los Angeles
"After shooting
on the rifle range we noticed
an individual shooting very rapidly on
the pistoi
range
which is beside the rifle range At this time we
decided to start shooting our Own pistols , a .22
Colt ma gnum Noticing the individual down the range
was shooting rapidly
9 we decided to approach him and
inquire about the weapon DAVID asked hin if the
weapon was 8 38 and he replied 1 it was a 22
caliber Then I asked him how many bullets the
pistol was able to hold and he replied

single or double action and he replied 'it is single '

as we could see that it was double action He finally
said that we had gotten him confused and that the pistol

right of hin which he had apparently fired
"The individual asked DAVID how *o obtain better
acc uracy thru the sight pattern and they discuseed
briefly and then DAVID and I lefx the range aw appro-

decided it matched the description of' the individual
we had seen and talked with at the range and the gun
likewise matched We decided to call the police
"The individual at the range wa s about 22 to 23
yrs of age thin build , weighing about 135 pounds , about
5'5" to tall, dark complexion with curly black
or brown hair It was apparent tha% he Jag of a
foreign extraction He spoke with some type of accent
not readily krnown to me He wa8 wearing a long eleeve
be ige or white shirt with stripes and light blue jeans
I noticed no apparent scars or identifying marks I
saw no one with him and noticed no automobile

CHARLES W_ BADGLEY contacted DAVID RALPH MONTELLANO and identified
thenselves as agente pf the FBI MONTELLANO stated that he was
willing to talk to the FBI and provided the folloing information:

eaid that he and CARREON heard gome rapid firing coming from the
pietol renge, which is adjacent to the rifle range- MONTELLANO
said that he and CARREON diecueged the matter briefly and then
decided t? go to the pietol range to eee what kind of weapon was
being u8ed in connection with thig rapid firing
MONTELLANO advieed that he and CARREON then went to
the pistol range and at the far end of the range they caw 8 individua?

during their time on the pietol range or rifle range
MONTELLANO , upon being ehown turee of various
individuale picked out a photograph of SIRHAN STRHAN a2
poeitively being the individual whom he had seen firing at the
far end of the pietol range , and had engaged in convereation_
MONTELLAIO stated tha t he is aware that STRHAN ie currently
under arreet for the aeeaeeination of Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY
and he 18 certain that the individual at the range was SIRHAN
SIRHAN _
MONTELLANO etated in conclugion, that if he could recall
any additional detaile regarding the occurrencee on the firing
range that he would contact the Los Angeles FBI Office.

not recognize the individual as being a shooter at the range
on that day Howeve r , HAGER adviged, hig records indicate
that an individual 8 igned in with the name SIRHAN SIRHAN on
June 4

1968_ HAGER stated that he had notified the Los Angeleg
Police Department that SIRHAN S name appeared on these recorde and
it was his understanding thatt police officials reques ted the record
with the name SIRHAN SIRHAN be retained until they picked i€ up _
HAGER etated that maintained two rosters of
shooterg at the gun club One roster contained S ignaturee
of gun club members only who are ghooting on any particular
day and the other roster is for non-members He noted that
SIRHAN 8 name appeared on the non-member roster _ In addition,
he stated that eve ryone who shoote at the range i8 supposed
to sign one roster or the other but often times this is not
done

BUCKNER advised that he was n duty as the Line
Officer for the gun club on June 4

9:30 to 10:00 a m . , an individual came to the range and gigned
the non-member ghoot ing roster with the name SIRHAN SIRHAN
9 696 East Howard , Paeadena BUCKNER stated that he later
recognized a picture on television of SIRHAN

a suspect in the
assaseination of Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY

as being identical
to the individual whom he had seen on the range on June 4 1968.
BUCKNER stated that SIRHAN had in his poegession a 22 caliber
pistol with and after receiving a target , went to shooting
position number 1 on the tol range _ After firing for approxi-
If mately 15 minutes SIRHAN returned to BUCKNER and asked , What
are your best
sheile?
Have you some that will not migfire?"
After a ghort convereation, BUCKNER stated he sold SIRHAN a box
of shells but he is not sure what type _ SIRHAN then returned
to position number 1 and started firing again
Approximately 15 minutes later, a man and a woman
came to the range counter. BUCKNER etated that he could
describe the male as

"You 11 ha ve to go by yourself because you ha ve to
learn how t? shoot that pistol today" BUCKNER stated the woman
then turned to him and said , 1I I've had this gun a long time and
I have to learn how t shoot it_ This i8 the firet gun I ve
ever owned and I've never shot a gun before 1}
BUCKNER advised that he gave each the proper target
and the woman then went to the pistol range and the man went
to the rifle range BUCKNER stated that he placed the woman' 8
target in place for her around gun position number 24 which is
at the opposite end of the pistol range of the
number i
gun
position from which SIRHAN was firing BUCKNER stated the woman
then started shooting but could not hit the target and asked
him for help and BUCKNER told her that he was not allowed to
do 80 . The woman continued firing and after a few minutes SIRHAN
came over to the woman and said Here , I'1l show you how to
shoot that The woman said, "Get away from me you son of a
# bitch; they' Ll recognize you BUCKNER stated that he was
approximately five feet away from SIRHAN and the woman during
this conversation SIRHAN then took the gun away from the
woman and proceeded to show her how to line up the sights for a
proper sight picture_ He returned the gun to the woman and
she fired and hit the bulls-eye She continued firing for
approximately 15-30 minutee with SIRHAN beside her_ After
that SIRHAN left her and returned to the number 1 gun poeition _
Approximately 10 minutes after this the man with whom
the woman had apparently come to the range with came ove r to the
woman on the pistol range and removed her target and returned
M to the bench with it The woman said,

that was an accident Look
at all these wild shots BUCKNER stated that the man then
returned the targets BUCKNER stated that after returning the
targets to the shed , the man and woman left the range BUCKNER
stated that he did not notice an automobile He stated that he
would estimate this time as approxinately 11:00 to 1l:30 A.M.
3 although he said 1t could have been as much a8 an hour or 80
later_
BUCKNER etated that SIRHAN left the range approximately
10 or 15 minutes after the man and woman and he thought SIRHAN
was driving a light colored car, make and model unknown

graph of SIRHAN was the same individual who was firing at the
range on June 4 , 1968. He stated that he was reasonably certain
that he would recognize the blonde woman if he were to see her
again_ howe ver , he did not think that he could recognize the
man with the woman BUCKNER stated that he would be willing to
the FBI in any wajy poseible in thig investigation and in
the event that he should think of anything that might be of
assibtance he would immediately contact the Log Angeleg Office
BUCKNER pointed out that he has never been sa tisfied
that one person assaeeinated President JOHN @ KENNEDY in
Dallas

and it is his definite opinion tha t 3 conspira cy ezisted
in that a88a88 ination He stated from Wha t he can gather from
the new8 media from the very beginning he believed that a
conspiracy existed to aesa88inate Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY _
BUCKNER stated he could furnigh no informa tion to support the
feeling he had from the moilent he received news of the 8 hooting
of the Senator that this was a conspiracy other than the informa tion
he furnished C oncerning the events that took place at the San
Gabriel Va Gun Club on June 4, 1968 _

June 4 , 1968, in the area of the target shed, when an individual
came to the ghed and purchaged

pistol target He advised he ie
reepongible for the eale of targets and ammunition, and gaid he
told this man to sign the non-member register_

and that this individual, after obtaining his target , then proceeded
to the vicinity of pogition number 1 or 3 at the extreme end of
the pistol range_ He said he could not definitely pinpoint the
time of but estimated that it was sometime after 1o:00 a.m _
He said he

the pietol, but knew that firing wag taking place from the noise
at that end of the range_ He could not recall whether there were
any other shooterg on the pistol range at this particular time_
He said sometime thereafter, pogeibly 30 minutee or

a target for the rifle range, and that the girl wanted to shoot
a
pietol. He eaid he told this man that it would be neceseary
for them t0 separate, inasmuch a8 rifle firing is not permitted
on
the pistol range, and the male then obtained hie target and
gtarted to walk toward the rifle range He gaid at this point
" he made the C omment to the Arn t you going to help your
MI wife get up her target? He said thig man
replied to this comment

man then proceeded alone toward the rifle range area.
BUCKIER gaid he then took the pietol target for the girl
and started walking toward the pistol at which time the
girl made a comment to him to the effect , ig the first time
I have ghot thie gun , but I have to ehoot it today. I BUCKNER said he

but that he would, on his help her in getting up her target _
He &aid that they went to a position near the end of the pietol
range, which would be position number 22 or 23, and he thereafter
set wp the girl'8 target at the 15 yard line_ He eaid after
returning to the line he watched the fire for a short period
of tine, and noted that ghe wae a very bad shot , inagmuch a8 she

instant wealth and success SIRHAN was very emotional in
discussing the recent Arab Israeli conflict and was
critical of United States policy supporting Israel SIRHAN
did not discuss personalities in connection with United
States politics STRATHMANN recalled that on one occasion,

DORDI stated that he ha 8 never known SIRHAN BISHARA
SIRHAN by name He explained that while attending PCC , he
came to know many foreign students through social activities
and noted that some of the foreign students were Arabs _ He
stated that after Senator ROBERT F KENNEDY 8 assassina tion,
he has become aware of the identity of' SIRHAN and explained
that he now rea lized that he had seen him on severa 1 occasions
at PCC . He noted, however that he has never known him
by name , has never a8sociated with him, and has never had
a convergation with him_
DORDI reca lled that in late March, 1968, he
attended the races at Santa Anita with an as8ociate

MISTRI who is likewise from Bombay , India DORDI noted

also attended PCC and recalled that he and MISTRI
saw SIRHAN by chance at the races He pointed out

that although they recognized SIRHA N by sight and had a_

races and nothing more DORDI noted that he believes this
date was the last of the season at Santa Anita although
he was not certain_

COPPING advised that he operated the Elite Motor
Service, 2529 East Foothill Bouleverd , Pasadena

for twenty-nine years prior to selling out his business to
JACK DAVIES in September COPPING advised that he is
presently retired.
COPPING went on to say that on March 30 , 1964 ,
he employed one STRHAN STRHAN who worked for him at the Elite
Motor Service until September 14 , 1964 _ COPPING advised
that SIRHAN was an outstanding employee excellent worker,
and never had any friends

advised that during the time SIRHAN was employed by he
worked the 4:00 p.ma to 3:00 a.m. shift alone and that none
of the other employees would have known anything about
SIRHAN _ He advised that during his association with STRHAN
at no time did SIRHAN ever express any of his political views
or nationalistic leanings or for that matter

views He advised that while SIRHAN was employed at his
station, he resided with a family by the name of WICLIAM
BEVERIDGE who resided at 167 North Sierra Madre, Pasadena,
California_ COPPING advised that SIRHAN stayed with the
BEVERTDGEs and that this family would probably know him better
than anyone else He advised that before SIRHAN terminated
employment with him, he had moved from the BEVERIDGE residence
to him mother 8 address at 696 East Howard , Pasadena ,
California_
COPPING further advised that he could not furnish
anything derogatory concerning SIRHAN and that when he was
notified that SIRHAN was the person suspected of shooting
Senator KENNEDY , it was very hard for him to believe
COPPING then furnished the following individuals

Mr WILLIAM BEVER TDGE , 167 North Sierra Madre
Boulevard, advised that he is self-employed doing garden
jobbing work_ He became acquainted with SIRHAN BISHARA
SIRHAN in 1961 or 1962 He stated that he does not
recall how STRHAN came to him, but that during this
period he was using young boys in connection with his
gardening work and STRHAN did come to him for such
employment During the next three year8 , SIRHAN worked
for him on a part-time basis_

it was BEVERIDGE 8 understanding that SIRHAN was
attending Muir High School in Pasadena

and was living with
his mother at s ome address on East Howard Street He
subsequently left Muir High School and did S Ome studying
at Pagadena High School located on Sierra Madre Boulevard
It was BEVERIDGE 8 belief that this was high school study
rather than on a college level.
BEVERIDGE advised that it was his understanding
that SIRHAN 1 9 father had originally been in this Ce ountry,
but had returned to Palestine by hinself SIRHAN 8 mother
stayed in this country, and in additlon he had two brothers
and possibly one sister in this country One brother was
a painter by the name of JOE _ The other brother was a
mugician;
however BEVERIDGE did not know his name It was also his
impression that the sister may have died sometime during the
time he kew SIRHAN .
In about 1963, SIRHAN jad some type of difficulty
with his family_ It was BEVERIDGE 8 impression that this
arose from a fight between SIRHAN and his brother

JOE, which
resulted in the Pagadena Police Departnent being called because
of the disturbance Because of this fight , SIRHAN left his
family 1 S residence and lived for several weeks in a camper
owned by BEVERIDGE and parked at his residence After BEVERTDGE
found out that it was illegal to have someone stay in the
camper SIRHAN moved to a house owned by BEVERIDGE at 234 North Carmelio,
Pasadena BEVERTDGE was in the process of renovating

In early 1964_ SIRHAN started work at the gas
station located at the intersection of Foothill and Altadena
Drive BEVERIDGE last saw him during the period he was working
at this gas station and estimated that this would have been
three to four years ag0_
BEVERTDGE advised that he does not have any infor-
mation concerning any a8sociates of SIRHAN other than he was
friendly with one of the employees of the above service station
who left this area to enter military service
BEVERIDGE described SIRHAN 38 a quiet who
talked very litkle about his past or his family_ He was
quiet , well mannered

and studied very hard He did not
discu8s politics and did not in any way express resentment
toward any individual or any group He appeared to like
the United States and enjoyed living in this C ountry At
no time did he display any temperament or show violence _

BRA NTLEY stated that he was acquainted with SIRHAN
BLSHARA SIRHAN for approximately a six month period in 1963,
during which time they becane close friends _ At that time,
BRA NTLEY was 17 years old and was employed at the service
station located at the intersection of Foothill and Altadena
Drive

owned by CLARENCE COPPING _ BRANTLEY worked during
the late evening and early morning hours at this station
Sometime during the middle of 1963, possibly in June or
July COPPTNG introduced hin to SIRHAN _ BRA NTLEY stated
that he does not know how COPPING and SIRHAN became
acquainted, or what connection they have with each other_
At the time this occurred, it was BRA NTLEY 8 understanding
that SIRHAN was attending Pagadena City' College, and was
doing part-time evening Work at Peak S Hamburger House
(now known a8 Taco Treat located near the intersection
of Halstead and Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena It was
BRANTLEY I8 belief that at this time SIRHAN was probably
about 19 years old From the time that he met until
the time that BRANTLEY left the service station in December
1963, to enter the Armed Services , STRHAN made it a practice
to come to the service station and stay with BRA NTLEY for
several hours each evening-
BRA NTLEY stated that he left the service station
in December 1963= and did not return to the California area
until December 1966. At that he asked COPPING if he
knew where STRHAN was and COPPING stated 'chat he did not
know what SIRHAN Wa $ doing but had heara that he had gotten
a job at the Santa Anita Race Track as a J or horse
trainer BRANTLEY made no other effort

SIRHAN indicated that he was living apart from his family
because of some family trouble, but he did not discuss this
any further
BRANTLEY stated that he did not meet any of the
SIRHAN family

but recalls SIRHAN talking about his parents
s0 he assumed that both his father and mother were living in
this area He also made passing reference to a brother by
the name of JOE ; however BRANTIEY did not recall anything
specifically said about JOE There was no reference made
about STRHAN having a sister SIRHAN did talk about an
unc le who still lived in Jerugalem In this connection,
BRANTTEY stated that SIRHAN told him that he came to this
C ountry with his fami from Jerusalem several years ago
He claimed to be Arabian; but did not make reference to
any Arabic nationality.
BRANTIEY advised that he considered SIRHAN to be
a very intelligent individual- He spoke English with a
slight accent and indicated a knowledge of Arabic He also
could at least read German, since on one oc casion he
interpreted a letter written in German which BRANTLEY ' s
brother had received from a girl friend in Germany
BRANTIEY stated that throughout his contact with
SIRHAN , they did not discus8 politics or involvement of this
country in other parts of' the world_ Their topics of
conversation were limited to normal interests of young
teenagers inc luding talk about girls ; however at no
time did SIRHAN indicate that he had a
particular gifl
friend SIRHAN did not indicate any emotional disturbance
over the situation in Israel, and no particular animosity
toward any individual or group When he did talk about

it was related to graphic description of the
physical Out of the C ountry and the customs of the
people SIRHAN appeared to be very satisfied with his
life in this country and appreciative of the manner of
living and his acceptance in this country.
BRANTIEY stated that he has seen recent pictures
of SIRHAN . Theonly difference noticed was that during
the period BRANTIEY Iew SIRHAN , he wore a thick, dark
mustache
